Big Ice on Perito Moreno
Physically demanding excursion whose main difference with the Minitrekking tour is that it includes a 4 hours walk on the ice, allowing you to get to the center of the Perito Moreno glacier.
The tour begins when we pick you up at your hotel in El Calafate and start a 75km ride to the Perito Moreno Glacier located in Los Glaciares National Park. At the Bajo las Sombras port, located 5 km before reaching the glacier, you embark to cross the “Rico” Lake and descend on the southwestern coast after 20 minutes sailing. With mountain guides, you start a one and a half hour hikking in a path next to the glacier, reaching a spectacular viewpoint where you attach the iron crampons and start walking on the ice. Once on the Perito Moreno glacier, the ice trekking takes about 4 hours in total, in which you will observe incredible blue lakes, deep cracks, eternal sinks, and amazing caves, which will make you feel at the center of the glacier. You can enjoy a unique pic-nic surrounded by unparalleled beauty.
After the 4 hours ice trek, you head back to civilization in one of the most spectacular trekkings in the world.
Finally, you return to Bajo de las Sombras port and head to visit the runways located in front of the glacier. After a short visit to the balconies, you start the journey back to the city of El Calafate after having visited and walked on one of the most famous glaciers and unique of its kind in the world.
